Anton Refalo to sue PN media over Gozo reports
Ministry for Gozo says stories published by PN media on alleged public works on private properties ‘are made up’
Gozo Minister Anton Refalo will be taking action against the PN media following a series of stories published in the newspaper claiming public works carried out on private properties in Gozo over the past two years.
On Saturday, In-Nazzjon published a news report claiming that works were carried out on a private residence in Rabat.
According to the Gozo Ministry, the story was made up and the PN media “has stooped down to ridiculous levels”.
The Gozo Ministry said works on a private residence’s façade published in the newspaper were neither carried out by the owners, nor by the government. Proof of this were pictures submitted to MEPA in 2012 showing the same site as published in today’s edition of In-Nazzjon, it said.
The Gozo Ministry said works carried out in Triq San Duminku in Rabat, Gozo, were limited to the public sidewalk. It also claimed the PN media was making up false reports to deviate attention from the works-for-votes scandal.
The ministry confirmed Refalo would be taking the necessary action against the PN for the “misleading and slanderous reports”.
Attached to the statement was also a signed declaration by CMU workers Victor Schembri and Anthony Spiteri denying that any work was carried out on the private residence.
