Labour MP Luciano Busuttil suggests Marlene Farrugia should leave the parliamentary group

Labour MP Luciano Busuttil has indirectly told his fellow colleague in parliament and party, Marlene Farrugia, to resign from the Labour Party.

Farrugia – who has always candidly expressed her views over different issues irrespective of government’s position – is facing criticism from many Labour supporters over her opposition to the development at Zonqor Point.

“If I ever go ballistic in public for the umpteenth time against my party and its leader, who happens to be the Prime Minister, I would seriously consider leaving that Parliamentary Group, out of respect for the people who elected me, and my colleagues in that same group,” Busuttil said on Facebook.

“Let us not forget that we are all elected because we run on a party ticket and not on our own behalf. I am just saying!”

Busuttil was careful not to mention Farrugia by name. His post was uploaded after Farrugia upped her ante against the proposed development of a university at Zonqor Point, urging readers “not to be fooled” by promises of a national park.

Farrugia has also suggested that signatures might be collected to petition a referendum in order to ensure environment protection.
