Mepa gives go-ahead for new bus terminus in Valletta

The bus terminus located at the entrance to Valletta will be downsized and relocated to the area below St James Counterguard, after the Mepa board gave the project its go-ahead earlier today.

The proposed terminus project will see the number of operational buses in the terminus reduced to 14, and will have an equal number of bus bays with a kiosk serving two bays.

Mepa said in a statement that the terminus, in keeping with the strategy for an improved public transport system, will provide shade by means of canopies over each kiosk.

The fuel station currently situated in the ditch will also be decommissioned and decontaminated.

The project aims to re-organise public transport leaving and approaching the terminus, where buses will drop off passengers coming to Valletta in Vjal ir-Re Edwardu VII, next to the monument of Christ the King (Kristu Re).

Commuters can only board buses from the new terminus in St James Counterguard ditch.
