US embassy funds emergency medical skills training for AFM

The US Defense Institute for Medical Operation is providing basic and advanced emergecny medical skills training to members of the Armed Forces of Malta, through the US embassy in Malta.

The training is funded by the international Military Education and Training Programme.

The two-week programme, split between basic first responder training and lifesaving skills for medicas, culminated in a simulation of an event requiring an emergency medical response. Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley took part int he simulation

The training supports the AFM’s ongoing preparations and capacity for crises and disaster response, including provision of emergency medical care connected with migration, interdictions, search and rescue and humanitarian operations.
