What the Sunday papers say…
A round-up of the newspaper headlines on Sunday morning.

MaltaToday’s front page features picture of newspaper columnist and lawyer Claire Bonello and her placard at yesterday’s protest against ODZ development. The newspaper reports that a survey it has conducted shows that public trust in Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has been dented but remains strong with his lead over Opposition leader Simon Busuttil down two points to13 points.
Illum’s front page is shared between a photo of the protest in Valletta yesterday and an exclusive report that a centre for children with drug problems is planned by Minister for the family and social solidarity Michael Farrugia.
The Sunday Times of Malta also reports on the protest in Valletta. It leads with a story claiming that Mark Gaffarena has filed an injunction to prevent the remaining part-owners of a property in Valletta, which he co-owns, from selling to the government instead of to him.
It-Torca reports that information on talks between the National Statistics Office and Eurostat was leaked by Tonio Fenech’s ‘spies’ in the civil service. The newspaper also says the university paid Fr Joe Borg more than €50,000 in a year.
The Malta Independent on Sunday, Leads with a picture of yesterday’s protest with the headline “Muscat cannot ignore us.” Another front page story reports that a White Paper is currently in the works which will make changes, including greater autonomy, in the University of Malta.
Il-Mument claims that Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon ignored the prime minister’s request that he resign in the wake of the Valletta property expropriation scandal. I also features a story and photos of yesterday’s protest in Valletta.
Il-Kulhadd clarifies that the previous PN government had put pressure on the Government Property Division to terminate the lease of a piece of rural land at Bahar ic-Caghaq in 2013, after non-payment of rent by the lessee. The paper claims that the PN media has been trying to portray the situation as a recent Labour move.
