Lifeguards rescue man at Golden Bay
The 72-year-old man, who found himself in difficulty while swimming in Golden Bay this afternoon, was brought to shore by Malta Red Cross Lifeguards.
Malta Red Cross Lifeguards have rescued a 72-year-old man, who found himself in difficulty while swimming in Golden Bay this afternoon.
A Red Cross spokesperson told the press that double-Red flags had been raised at the beach by lifeguards today, to show bathers that the beach was dangerous for swimming because of the rough sea.
Speaking to the media, Malta Red Cross Lifeguards chief lifeguard Robert Brincau reminded swimmers to follow instructions given to them by lifeguards.
Malta Red Cross Lifeguards ensure that bathers are made aware that swimming under double-red flag conditions put their lives at risk.
Lifeguards are needed because some individuals choose to disregard the warnings, thereby endangering their lives and the lives of those lifeguards would then have to rescue them, said Brincau.
