Four drugs found in 1,295 prison drug inspections this year
710 urine tests were carried out on prisoners and 70 on prison staff between January and May this year.

1,295 drug inspections were carried out between January and May this year, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela revealed. Following these inspections, four drug finds were mind- two of heroin, one of marijuana, and one of a synthetic drug.
The information was tabled in Parliament in response to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Anthony Agius Decelis.
In response to a separate question by Agius Decelis, Abela said that 710 urine tests were carried out on prisoners and 70 urine tests on prison staff during that same time period.
