Fgura local council to assist MEPA on gathering black dust samples

In a meeting held on 11 October the Fgura local council approved a motion for the council to take initiative in assisting MEPA by collecting samples of the black dust that falls on Fgura.

The council is calling on residents to pass on samples of the black dust to the council, which will, in turn, be submitted to MEPA for further testing.

During the vote, all five Labour candidates voted in favour of the motion while one Nationalist candidate voted against and the other two Nationalist candidates abstained from voting.

Fgura mayor, Byron Camilleri said: “Although I believe the problem of the black dust is not a direct responsibility of the local council, we are taking a pro-active approach, helping all the necessary authorities.

“With the help of residents we will be collecting samples to send to MEPA for testing so that the origin of the dust can be determined and a solution found so that families, children, youths and the elderly of Fgura will be able to enjoy a better environment.”

[During the vote, all five Labour candidates voted in favour of the motion while one Nationalist candidate voted against and the other two Nationalist candidates abstained from voting.] Why would any local councillor vote against something that will help THEIR locality and locals?? What kind of people are these idiots?? Don't they have any cojones??
