Nobody injured as fire erupts at Qormi substation
Electricty temporarily switched off in some parts of Qormi as fire breaks out at Electrical substation that supplies electricity to the Nylon Knitting factory
No one was injured after a fire erupted at an electrical substation in Qormi that supplies electricity to the Nylon Knitting factory.
An Enemalta spokesperson told MaltaToday that the fire broke out at around 12pm, and that an adjacent substation had temporarily been switched off as a precautionary measure, leaving some parts of Qormi without power.
Civil Protection Department officials were quickly called on site to extinguish the flames. The second substation was switched back on as soon as the situation was placed under control.
The cause of the fire is as yet unknown.
