MUT requests urgent meeting over issues faced by FES members
Malta Union of Teachers notes similarity in issues faced by employees at Skola Sajf, Child Care centres and Klabb 3-16
The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) has requested a meeting with the management of the Foundation for Educational Services (FES) after it received complaints of a number of issues being faced by its members.
“The issues MUT has received word about include excessive stress, lack of resources, episodes of bullying at the workplace and dubious discipline practices against workers which in many cases may have been exaggerated or unnecessary, as well as adverse conditions such as tremendous heat, serious health and safety issues, and centre coordinators who being loaded with major responsibilities without any central support,” a statement by the Union reads.
The statement adds that certain coordinators are facing unacceptable situations where they are being shared between two Skola Sajf Centres in addition to their Klabb 3-16 duties.
“Some employees are reduced to a state where they are reluctantly seeking alternative employment because they cannot endure this type of work environment anymore.”
The MUT added that there was a great similarity between the difficulties of employees at Skola Sajf and those faced by employees at child care centres and Klabb 3-16.
The statement added however that the union thanked all employees at the skola sajf centres for managing to work with dedication despite the huge difficulties encountered.
