Councils, NGOs unite in aid of refugees

A number of local councils, Church organisations and NGOs will be organising a ‘National Car Wash Day’ on Saturday 3 October in aid of SOS Malta.

The initiative comes in the wake of the refugee crisis in Europe and the proposals by a number of local councilors to host Syrian families in Malta. People are being encouraged to give a €5 donation to have their car washed by volunteers in various localities between 8 am and 2 pm.

Last week, SOS Malta launched an urgent public appeal for donations for relief efforts in Serbia.

Supported by representatives of the three political parties, the business sector represented by the Paltform CORE and the Serbian Community in Malta, SOS Malta will be providing food, water and non-food items such as hygiene kits and sleeping bags to refugees in Serbia.
