New operator for Ta’ Qali animal welfare centre
Animal Pro Health Ltd will take over management of the Centru San Frangisk animal welfare clinic
The company Animal Pro Health Ltd (APH) will be running the Centru San Frangisk animal welfare centre in Ta Qali, the government has announced.
In a statement from the parliamentary secretariat for animal rights, it was revealed that the company, owned by veterinary products importers Keith Attard and Stephen Rossi, was chosen following a public call for applications.
“According to the previous government’s contract, the current operator has the right to continue operating on the premises for a month,” the statement reads, adding that the new operators would invest in infrastructural improvement once the premises were vacated.
The statement adds that the service will be temporarily suspended from 28th September 2015, until the necessary arrangements are in place.
“The government wants this hospital to be more accessible particularly for NGOs and voluntary groups in the animal welfare sector.”
The secretariat has announced that it will also publish the names of 19 clinics across the Maltese islands that will be offering an emergency 24-hour service while the centre is closed.
“The animal welfare directorate will continue with its usual operations and the public is invited to call the directorate on 1717 or on [email protected] for further information.”
