You don’t say. Roads minister says traffic problem ‘is real’
Joe Mizzi’s ministry is ‘aware’ of the traffic problem and that it is ‘real’
The Ministry for Transport is “aware” of the traffic troubles and the traffic problem is “real”, according to a statement issued on Friday evening by the same ministry.
This challenge, it said, has been dragging on for years but the main causes remain the same: cars on the road continue to increase while the country’s infrastructure is not keeping up with the demand.
The ministry wrote of the immediate works by the Works Department and Transport Malta to repair walls, manholes, traffic lights and to clean culverts, amongst others.
“While the ministry is aware of the problem, it is a challenge that has been dragging for years on end. The traffic problem is real but its main causes remain the same. Little investment was made by previous administration to upgrade the country’s infrastructure,” it said.
The ministry said no extensive problems were reported and flood relief projects in Qormi, Zabbar, Marsaskala, Haz-Zebbug and Marsa proved to have worked.
The rest of the works in Birkirkara and Msida should be completed before end of year.
