Nurses report physical and verbal attacks from Mount Carmel patients

Nurses’ union MUMN has reported that Mount Carmel personnel had been suffering physical and verbal abuse from patients on a monthly basis.

The union demanded that management rectify the situation so that nurses can work with all the protection they require.

“MUMN cannot tolerate this situation to persist. It is unacceptable that nurses going about their job are abused and assaulted,” MUMN vice-president Noel Camilleri said in a statement.

“Nurses have suffered physical harm and psychological trauma, and have had to find psychological help because of the harm being felt in their private and family lives,” Camilleri said.
