Malta to host 'Europa Donna' breast care conference in October 2011

Breast Care Support Group Malta is to host the Pan European 'Europa Donna' conference in October 2011. This was announced at the annual Hilda Schembri Memorial lecture Breaking the Silence held yesterday in support of breast awareness in Malta.

This prestigious conference is held by Europa Donna every 2 years and around 300 breast cancer specialists and advocates from 45 different countries are expected to come to Malta to attend.

Speakers at the conference held yesterday included Cypriot Stella Kyriakides, breast cancer survivor and former president of Europa Donna, Elizabeth Muscat from the National Breast Screening Centre.

The lecture dealt mainly with breast cancer seen from the patient’s perspective and was well attended by the general public and while healthcare professionals.

President Gertrude Abela was congratulated on her appointment to the executive board of Europa Donna.
