Feed-in tariff for structure integrated PV systems set up

Feed-in tariff of €0.15c per KWh generated by structurally integrated photovoltaic panel system set up

A feed-in tariff for structurally integrated photovoltaic panel systems has been set up, according to the regulator for energy and water services.

In a statement, the regulator explained that a feed-in tariff of €0.15c per KWh generated has been set following the publication of a legal notice.

The statement explains that the scheme would include systems substituting other components such as, when integrated in building facades and replacing any component in the façade like glass or concrete, when used on bus shelters and greenhouses among others.

“The scheme has a capacity allocation limit of 4MW peak,” the statement reads, adding that new sectors are being given the opportunity to participate in clean energy generation, given that they will benefit from this feed-in tariff.

“Installed PV capacity is expected to reach 60MWp by the end of this year through the various initiative that were launched throughout the years.”

The regulator said that this will further contribute to Malta reaching its 2020 target of 10%, after having achieved 5% this year.
