New bus routes launched, Valletta bus terminus extended

Malta Pubic Transport launches seven new routes and announces extension of Valletta bus terminus

Malta Public Transport today launched the first set of changes to the route network. The remaining changes will be introduced on December 20.

The Valletta bus terminus has been extended into St James Ditch, increasing bus bays from 17 to 29. The terminus will be divided into three areas namely Area A, Area B, and Area C.

The extension of the Bus Terminus is accessible from the stairs and ramp in front of the Central Bank of Malta near Castile Place and from the existing Terminus.

The route changes will affect the following routes:

1 -4 to Isla, Bormla, Kalkara and Birgu;

47, 54 and 58 to Mosta, Attard and Birkirkara;

50 - 53, 56 to Rabat, Mtarfa, Dingli

61 - 64 to Zebbug, Siggiewi and Qormi;

80 - 82 to Birzebbuga and Marsaxlokk;

83, 84 and 88 to Santa Lucija, Zejtun and Gudja

91 – 93, 94 to Marsaskala and Xghajra

Seven new routes are being introduced: Route 4 to Vittoriosa, Route 47 to Mosta, Routes 50/53 to Rabat, Route 64 to Qormi, Route 80 to Birzebbuga, Route 85 to Marsaxlokk and Route 90 to Zabbar.

“The changes to the routes will see a significant improvement in the level of service offered by Malta Public Transport with increased frequencies of existing routes and the addition of new routes that will serve localities previously unserved by the public transport network, the Malt Public Transport said.
