ITS saving €14,076 in new internet provider agreement
ITS paying some €125 a month, adding up to €1,500 every year for internet services, compared to the previous €1,298 a month, adding up to €15,576 a year.
The Institute of Tourism Studies is saving some €14,076 on internet services after it switched providers at the end of January his year, Tourism minister Edward Zammit Lewis said in a reply to a parliamentary question.
Zammit Lewis said that under the new contract, the institute was paying some €125 a month, adding up to €1,500 every year, compared to the previous €1,298 a month, adding up to €15,576 a year, under a contract with Vanilla Telecoms Ltd.
The minister added that ITS has two internet providers. One of them is Mita, which provides a service used mostly by the staff and another for students, provided by a private company.
During the parliamentary session, Zammit Lewis also said that the government had embarked on a series of reforms for the institute in various aspects, including the IT systems used by ensuring that all equipment and programmes were licensed and approved by hotel industry software providers to resemble the systems used in the real world as much as possible.
Zammit Lewis also explained that the Budgetary decision to invest in a €56 million new campus at Smart City, was a step to ensure state of the art equipment and better human resources for the students.
