PN calls on government to publish all contracts related to CHOGM
MPs Jason Azzopardi and Censu Galea also made reference to other contracts that have not yet been published, including those related to the IIP, the American University and the power purchase agreement
Nationalist MPs Jason Azzopardi and Censu Galea called on the Prime Minister to publish all the contracts related to CHOGM.
While showing a video clip with Joseph Muscat’s speech during the CHOGM, Azzopardi said that a good leader should practice what he preaches.
He asked how can one encourage public scrutiny if there are still documents that have not been published. “How can the Opposition scrutinize a contract if this is never published?” asked Azzopardi.
The PN also called for the government to publish a long list of contracts that are still not open to public scrutiny, including the one signed with Henley and Partner’s regarding the Individual Investor Program, the contract with Sadeen Group regarding the American Univeristy and the power purchase agreement with ENEL for the interconnector with Sicily.
“If we want justice then the government should not hinder the workings of the Ombudsman in his investigation in the army”, he added.
Azzopardi said that since October, he has been asking parliamentary questions regarding direct orders issued during CHOGM. He said that for the third time, he got a reply that the information was still being compiled. One parliamentary question was about whether all the money that will be raised from the sale of CHOGM cars will go to charity.
He also referred to a story revealed by Maltatoday, regarding the cars supplied for CHOGM. The story showed that out of the 140 cars which were supplied for the event, a 100 were provided by Forte Chauffeur, a company run by a certain Charles Zammit.
Referring to the tent erected at Hagar Qim and that was never utilized due to inclement weather, “Who in his right mind would even think of setting up a tent in one of the most windy places in Malta?”
Nationalist MP Censu Galea also mentioned the loss of EU funds for the Coast Road project, Sai Mizzi’s employment together with a long list, which, according to him, “show the complete opposite of what Muscat said in his speech.”
He asked why certain questions by the Opposition were not being answered. “It’s either to tease the Opposition, or because there is something to hide”, he concluded.
