GWU demands higher compensation for soldiers stationed at summits
General Workers' Union requests meeting with Prime Minister to discuss higher compensation for soldiers stationed at last month's summits.
The General Workers’ Union has requested a meeting with the Prime Minister to insist on further compensation for soldiers who were stationed at last month’s CHOGM and migration summits.
In a letter to Joseph Muscat, the GWU said that compensation for soldiers stationed at both summits was equivalent to what was handed to soldiers who had been stationed at the 2005 CHOGM summit.
“Back then, Europe wasn’t continuously under threat of terrorist attacks as it is now,” GWU deputy secretary Kevin Camilleri wrote. “We hope that our meeting with the Prime Minister will lead to a just and satisfactory solution.”
