Archbishop urges true inclusivity for people with disabilities

Charles Scicluna hails Dar tal-Providenza as exemplary model on how people with disabilities should be treated as he launches annual 'Feast of Generosity'

Archbishop Charles Scicluna called on Maltese society to become more inclusive for people with disabilities.

Addressing a New Year’s Day mass at Dar tal-Providenza, Scicluna hailed the home for setting an example as to how people with disabilities should be looked after.

“Over the years, the home has offered people with disabilities a stable and caring environment that fosters the belief that everybody deserves to have a place in society,” he said. “Let us pray that people with disabilities find the care in our society that this home bears witness to,” he said.

At the Mass, Scicluna also launched the 20th edition of the Feast of Generosity, an annual fund-raising marathon to raise proceeds for the Dar tal-Providenza.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil and President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca will all attend the event later on today.

Organised by RTK4Charity, this year’s event includes an online auction of works by local artists.
