In the Press: Dry spell threatens local crops

Local farmers have expressed their concerns that a particularly dry winter has stretched their resources and could threaten their harvest. Some 188mm of rain has fallen so far since 1 September - this time last year, it had already surpassed the 300mm mark.

Constable Paul Cassar was awarded the Officer of the Year for his work with the police corps. Cassar is credited with having saved the lives of two people whose houes caught fire and with preventing a suicide.

A nurse who allegedly beat a 10-year-old patient at Mount Carmel Hospital is to be charged in court this month. The man was accused of beating the boy, who suffers from a physical condition and exhibits behavioural issues, in September last year.
