Gozo Tourism Authority speaks out against vandalism on information boards on Għarb walking trail

The Gozo Tourism Authority (GTA) has spoken out against vandalism on information boards which form part of a walking trail in Għarb.

Vandals struck the 10km Għarb trail and most of the boards were smashed with, broken glass leaving shattered glass scattered on site.

In a statement issued to the media, the GTA explained that the panels, part of an effort to encourage more tourism in the area, were useful to trackers and outlined descriptions on the Wied il- Mielah valley and window, among others.

The GTA further added that the Għarb local council had invested in various infrastructural and embellishment projects, even using EU funds, all for the sake of strengthening tourism in the area.

Encouraging Gozitans to take more care of their environment, the GTA also expressed its hope that competent authorities would take action to set damages right, and stressed that ‘such acts of vandalism give a bad name to our Island.’
