Three submissions for smart cabinet project

Projects Malta says three companies have answered the government's call for submissions on a project to introduce smart cabinets in the public health service

Three companies have submitted themselves for an investment amounting to unspecified millions of Euros into new smart cabinet systems to be used by the Health Department.

According to a press statement issued by Projects Malta, the call for proposals was issued by the government last October, and it seeks to create a more effective way of storing and distributing medicines.

The sumbissions,  announced by Projects Malta earlier today, consist of Pharma Solutions J.V, Consortium SLPA-Swisslog, Innovative Automated Solutions.

The investment, a Public Private Partnership, was thought to introduce more tecnological systems for better efficiency, less waste in the system. The project also aims to create better peace of mind for patients as well as a sense of security at being given the right medication according to their prescription, while also ensuring that human resources are used more effectively.

The statement adds that the public call was to provide concessions for design, manufacture, infrastructure, operation and training for the cabinets to be used for pharmaceuticals, medical materials and other equipment used in the health services.

Health Minister Konrad Mizzi said that this step showed the government’s commitment to seek out new ways to improve the service provided to patients.
