WATCH | Gozo taxi drivers pester tourists into taking cab

Clips show Gozo taxi drivers badgering tourists alighting at the Mgarr Harbour after Malta Tourism Authority warned transport authority to take action over cabbies, and to create a taxi booth for drivers.

I wrote about this problem years ago and nothing was done then and nothing will be done now. Sometimes you can hardly get out the door of the terminal for these drivers blocking your way. I think most adults have enough sense to know that if they need a taxi they approach a taxi driver without being badgered in this way.

Mr. Carmelo Saliba, of take-home laptop fame, and Mr. Reuben Said, brother of the Parliamentary Secretary, Chris Said, should be given a performance bonus for their excellent competence in managing Transport Malta in Gozo! Mr. C. Saliba is the general manager as well as Mayor of Zebbug, Gozo and Mr. R. Said is the manager responsible for enforcement in Gozo. May I ask the Hon. Austin Gatt, the minister responsible for Transport Malta, how much these two Managers get in salaries and perks?
