Minister for Gozo Mario Refalo launched the 2016 Gozo Carnival today, with the cultural event expected to draw its annual influx of visitors.

Refalo said the 2015 edition of the event proved very popular with both Maltese and foreign visitors, with mostly teens attending the Nadur carnival while families enjoyed the choreographed events in Rabat.

Refalo reiterated the ministry’s mission to boost the island’s appeal during the shoulder months of tourism, with results already proving positive - a record number of visitors having attended the Christmas in Gozo activities.

Thanking the police, Transport Malta and the Gozo Channel staff, Refalo said the ministry was committed to coordinating events so as to reduce the inconvenience to both residents and revelers.
