Carmel De Gabriele new IIP regulator
Carmel De Gabriele, former head of the Electoral Commission, replaces Godwin Grima as regulator of the 'golden passport' scheme
Carmel De Gabriele has been appointed as the new regulator of the Individual Investor Programme (IIP), replacing Godwin Grima who has resigned from the public service.
De Gabriele had previously served as chief Electoral Commission, director general for family and social affairs, and permanent secretary within the social policy ministry.
During his two-year term, he will be tasked with regulating Malta’s ‘golden passport’ scheme that had generated over €119 million as of the end of 2015.
