[WATCH] Agency confirms man who threatened pregnant officer is 'a warden'
Head of police officers’ union says pregnant policewoman’s health condition ‘deteriorated’ following attack
The Local Enforcement System Agency confirmed that a man who attacked a pregnant policewoman whilst stuck in traffic is in fact a warden.
LESA said the police were investigating the case and it was closely following developments. LESA is also in contact with the man's employer, a private company.
Condemning the incident, LESA said that, together with the private operators, it was committed to ensure that all local wardens act respectfully.
A video emerged on Facebook of a man hurling insults at a pregnant woman during a road rage incident.
The woman, a constable, was treated for shock following the incident in Floriana on Tuesday.
The POU within the General Workers Union said that the man refused to give way and hurled insults at the woman. He got out of the car and started banging on her car window forcefully breaking the mirror on the driver’s side in the process. The video was uploaded on the POU-GWU's Facebook page.
The man appeared to lose his temper even more once he learned that the woman behind the wheel was a member of the police force.
According to the head of the POU-GWU, Sandro Camilleri, the police officer had to seek further medical attention after her condition deteriorated as a result of the shock.
