PN councillor resigns after insulting minister on Facebook
School teacher Richard Chetcuti steps down from his local council's seat after swearing on Facebook

PN councillor Richard Chetcuti has resigned from the Ta’ Xbiex local council after apologizing to Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi following a Facebook rant.
Chetcuti, who this morning insulted Mizzi in an uncivilised rant, presented his resignation letter to the local council and apologized for his comments.
“I totally regret the comments I made regarding Minister Mizzi. I apologise. At least I had the decency to apologise. Others make graver mistakes and error of judgments than I did and didn't apologise or even resign. Is it a case of two weights two measures?” Chetcuti said, leaving no room for interpretation that he was referring to Mizzi himself, who is embroiled in a controversy on his offshore holdings.
In his earlier comments which resulted in his resignation, Chetcuti wrote in Maltese: “Konrad fo** kemm ghandu, l***.”
