Accident victim requests compensation from justice minister
A motorist who was injured in a traffic accident involving Owen Bonnici in 2014 claims compensation from the justice minister and his insurance company
A motorist who was injured in a traffic accident involving justice minister Owen Bonnici in 2014 is claiming compensation from the minister.
In a statement, Bonnici said that he received a judicial letter from the person involved in the accident, claiming compensation from Bonnici and his insurance company.
The minister said that he had filed a claim with his insurance company a few hours after the incident took place last April.
“The company ensured me that I was completely covered and that he would not need to pay compensation to third parties if the need ever arose,” Bonnici said.
He said that the medical expert engaged by the accident victim’s insurance company differed in opinion with the expert used by the minister’s company.
Owen Bonnici was in October 2014 acquitted of causing the traffic accident through negligent driving, and to grievously injuring a motorist, after the court ruled that “there was not enough sufficient evidence to prove the charges.”
