Transport Malta says bus use becoming more attractive to commuters
Transport Malta says public transport becoming more alluring as commuters grow better accustomed to the new routes and route information becomes more accessible

Public transport is slowly but surely becoming more “alluring”, Transport Malta has said, noting that the number of bus passengers in 2015 increased by 7% over 2014. This oft-cited figure is likely to be linked with the 6% increase in inbound tourism over the same period.
In a statement, Transport Malta hailed Malta Public Transport’s plans to add 33 new buses to its fleet by the summer and to release a mobile app in two weeks’ time that will provide real-time updates for commuters.
“More people are becoming better accustomed to the new routes as better information becomes available,” TM said. “The new route network is historically the most extensive public transport network on the islands and provides connections to areas that were previously unreachable by bus.
“Transport Malta will remain vigilant to commuter needs and will keep calibrating the network through minor adjustments when needed.”
