Thriving agribusiness envisioned in draft agriculture policy
Draft issues paper on what will be Malta's first national agriculture policy put up for public consultation

Malta’s first national agriculture policy will promote agribusiness as a profitable sector, parliamentary secretary for agriculture Roderick Galdes said.
He was speaking during the launch of a public consultation process on an issues paper that will form the basis of the ten-year agriculture policy. Apart from the formation of a thriving agribusiness sector, the policy will also seek to enhance competitiveness of Maltese farmers and promote sustainable agriculture practices.
It will also endaveour to ensure that only “genuine” farmers get to till the land, and to resist harmful agricultural practices.
A team of government consultants will evaluate feedback received from farmers, shepherds and other stakeholders during this public consultation processes. A draft policy will then be published for further consultation.
