Gozitan councils received €9 million in EU funds since 2013

Parliamentary secretary for local councils Stefan Buontempo says Gozitan councils received around €9 million in EU funds since 2013

Gozitan local councils received around €9 million in EU funds in the past three years, parliamentary secretary for local councils Stefan Buontempo said.

Addressing an information session for Gozitan councils, Buontempo said that the funds were allocated to 46 projects - including the setting up of heritage trails, the installation of LED street lights, the renovation of village squares and multicultural exchanges.

He added that Gozitan councils will now be able to tap into EU funds specifically dedicated to projects intended to improve air quality.

“Local councils are fully aware of the specific air pollution challenges faced by their localities, and can hence contribute significantly towards tackling it.”
