October 2015 sees 4% increase in full-time employment
NSO statistics reveal that registered full-time employment increased by 4 per cent in October 2015 when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, while registered part-time employment as a primary job rose by 4 per cent.

NSO statistics have revealed that registered full-time employment increased by 4 per cent in October 2015 when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, while registered part-time employment as a primary job rose by 4 per cent.
According to Administrative data provided by the ETC, the labour supply (excluding part-timers) increased by 2.9 per cent, reaching 177,792, in a year. This was mainly attributed to an increase in the full-time gainfully occupied population (6,699) and a drop in registered unemployment
NSO added that administrative and support service activities had contributed mostly to the increase in employment, compared to October 2014, with registered full-time employment in the private sector going up by 6,709 persons to 128,327 and public sector full-time employment decreasing by 10 persons to 44,549.
According to statistics, the number of persons registered as full-time self-employed rose by 609 when compared to October 2014, while the number of persons registered as employees increased by 6,090.
Full-time employment for males and females went up by 2.9 per cent and 6.0 per cent respectively over 2014 levels.
The data also shows that registered part-time employment in October 2015 went up by 5.3 per cent when compared to a year earlier, with sectors that contributed most to the overall increase including the accommodation and food service activities, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and professional, scientific and technical activities
According to statistics, the number of part-timers who also held a full-time job amounted to 24,481, up by 7.3 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2014, while employed persons whose part- time job was their primary occupation totalled 35,015, up by 4 per cent or 1,346 persons when compared to 2014.
