Labour denies rumours of planned demonstration outside parliament
False rumours suggested Labour was encouraging party faithful to go to Valletta on Monday
The Labour Party has called on its supporters to ignore rumours of a planned demonstration outside parliament on Monday evening.
The party issued a statement after sections of the media and commentary on social media claimed that the PL was encouraging people to go to Valletta to support the government. In a 13-hour marathon sitting, the parliament on Monday will be discussing the motion of no confidence in government presented by the opposition.
“Members of parliament must be able to carry out their duty serenely,” the PL said, adding that such a demonstration would be uncalled for.
