Deputy prime minister Louis Grech to undergo surgery

Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech will be indisposed for a short period of time as he will be undergoing surgery this week.

The announcement was made by the Department of Information.

Grech, 69, has been deputy party leader of the Labour Party since December 2012. He was formerly an MEP, elected in 2004 and 2009, and prior to his political career served as chief executive officer of national airline Air Malta.

Grech is responsible for EU affairs.
