Opposition presents motion to repeal legal notice which orders removal of illegal billboards including those used by political parties
The opposition has today presented a motion to Speaker Anglu Farrugia which calls for the revocation of Legal notice 103 which seeks the removal of the illegal billboards that have peppered the Maltese islands for the past decade.
Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi said the legal notice “gags freedom of expression and hinders political parties and voluntary organisations.”
Pointing out that the no consultation took place befoire the introduction of the legal notice, the MP said a spate of organistions, including the GRTU, had called for the revocation of the legal notice.
Nationalist MP Ryan Callus added that the legal notice was “hurriedly” introduced to stop the opposition from erecting billboards on Panamagate.
