PN and PL trade retorts over publication of receipts for Muscat’s private holidays
PN challenges PM to make receipts for private holiday to Dubai public • PL retaliate calling the requests "ridiculous"
The Nationalist Party has refreshed its challenge to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to urge him to publish receipts for a private trip he took to Dubai.
In its press statement, the PN has urged Muscat to say who paid for his trip last March, where he stayed in “one of the most expensive hotels in Dubai.” The statement adds that Muscat ignored the challenge and that the data should be published in the name of transparence.
Reacting to the press release the Labour party (PL) called the challenge “ridiculous” and insisted that Muscat had paid for the trip through his own private funds.
The statement goes on to point out that the PN was refusing to publish receipts issued to deputy leaders Beppe Fenech Adami and Mario DeMarco, for construction works carried out at their properties, to dispel allegations that the works were in fact “gifts”.
