Child psychology waiting lists slashed by 16 months
3,564 assessments crried out at Child Development Assessment Unit last year
The average waiting time for children to receive an appointment with a psychologist at the Child Development Assessment Unit has been significantly reduced – from 18 months in 2012 to around seven weeks this year.
The information was revealed by health minister Chris Fearne while answering a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Chris Fearne.
Fearne said that medical and psychological staff at the CDAU carried out 3,564 assessments last year – all of which were on new patients.
Services offered by the CDAU include psychological therapy, psychiatry, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy.
