A&E treated 128,747 patients last year
128,747 patients were treated at Mater Dei’s Accident Accident and Emergency Department last year, out of which 35,573 were admitted to hospital overnight and 93,174 discharged.
128,747 patients were treated at Mater Dei’s Accident and Emergency Department last year, an average of around 353 patients a day.
35,573 of these patients were admitted to hospital overnight, while the remaining 93,174 were discharged.
108,928 of the patients were Maltese, while 9,834 of them were non-Maltese residents and 9,985 were foreigners.
The figures were tabled in parliament by health minister Chris Fearne in response to parliamentary questions by Labour MP Anthony Agius Decelis.
The A&E department treated 119,941 patients in 2014 and 115,706 patients in 2013.
