Transport minister Joe Mizzi met a group of St. Martin’s College sixth form students to discuss their suggestions for a national parking scheme.

The students form a company participating in the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise awards, and they are developing a scheme to make use of parking spaces in front of garages for limited times during the day.

The group is suggesting the creation of a registration system to ensure that garage owners are in agreement over the scheme.

“The government is open to suggestions such as this one, and it is ready to provide all the necessary support,” Mizzi said, adding that all decisions taken should safeguard both parties involved in the scheme.

Mizzi was accompanied by Audrey Testaferrata Denoto, who added that Transport Malta would remain in contact with the students to explore the proposals in view of existing legislation.
