Electoral Commission: reminder on voting registrations

The Electoral Commission has issued a reminder aimed at persons who were qualified to be registered voters as of 31 March 2016

The Electoral Commission has issued a reminder aimed at persons who were qualified to be registered voters as of 31 March 2016 to verifying that their name and particulars have been included in the revised electoral register published on the 27 April 2016.

Those who have obtained Maltese citizenship through naturalisation or registration, as well as those with certified dual citizenships are entitled to be registered as voters if they had the necessary qualifications by 31 March 2016. These persons are urged to verify their inclusion in this electoral register.

Appeals can be made to the revising officer up to Wednesday 18 May 2016 in the case of those whose name has not been included in this register, or whose particulars appearing need to be corrected on the basis that no prior application may have been made to the Commission for such purpose.

In case one wishes to appeal to the revising officer, one may find assistance at the Electoral Office, Merchants Street, Valletta or at the Identity Cards Office, 28A, St Francis Square, Rabat, Gozo.

One may check if one is registered as a voter in the April 2016 electoral register by accessing the new on-line facility on Electoral Commission’s website (www.electoral.gov.mt) under the “Publications” section and pressing the “Can I vote?” button.
