Maltese economist Salvino Busuttil, 79, passes away
Economist Salvino Busuttil, Malta’s former ambassador to France, passed away yesterday aged 79.
Busuttil was also a philosopher and the former director-general of the Foundation of International Studies. He served as director of the Malta Development Corporation, as dean of the Faculty of Arts until 1972 and was also the vice-president of the Mediterranean Centre for Human Rights.
For several years, he served as the chairman of the Malta Council for Economic Development.
Busuttil also held various positions at UNESCO.
