Vella, US and European ministers to discuss Libya instability
Minister George Vella heads off to Austria to attend a meeting organised by US secretary of state and Italy foreign affairs minister on Libya’s instability and political vacuum
Libya’s instability and political vacuum will once again be the main topic during a meeting among foreign affairs ministers.
The meeting, which will be held on Monday in Austria’s capital Vienna, will be attended by foreign affairs minister George Vella and a host of other European ministers, including Germany’s Frank Walter, France’s Jean-Marc Ayrault, amongst others.
The meeting was organised by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Italy foreign affairs minister Paolo Gentiloni. It will also be attended by Russia foreign affairs minister Sergey Lavrov, UK secretary of state Philip Hammond, as well as ministers from various Mediterranean and North African countries, include those of Spain, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco.
After the meeting in Vienna, minister Vella is expected to travel to Bulgaria’s capital Sofia for a Council of Europe Ministerial Committee meeting. The meeting will discuss the security of democracy in Europe during such a challenging time.
Vella will be addressing the meeting, where he will also be co-speaker on a discussion regarding migration.
