Anglu Farrugia to participate in EU Speakers’ conference

Speaker of the House Anglu Farrugia to participate in EU Speakers' conference in Luxembourg

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anglu Farrugia, will participate in an EU Speakers’ conference in Luxembourg, which will discuss, amongst others, migration and the role of the European Union.

The Conference of Speakers of EU parliament will take place between today, Sunday, and Tuesday 26th May.

This annual meeting brings together the Speakers or Presidents of the Chambers of EU parliaments and is held in the parliament of the member state which held the rotating EU Presidency in the second semester of the previous year.

The items on the agenda of this meeting include the management of migration flows, strengthening the European Union, the role of national parliaments and inter-parliamentary cooperation and ensuring the safety of citizens whilst respecting their fundamental freedoms.

During this visit Speaker Farrugia is also expected to have an exchange of views with the trio Presidency Speakers concerning the parliamentary dimension of the EU Presidency.
