AFM vessel rescues sailor

A sailor who required medical assistance while at sea was rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) this morning.

The sailor, who was onboard a merchant vessel in Maltese waters, was rescued by the AFM's Search and Rescue Launch Melita I. The AFM's vessels had been dispatched by the AFM Operations Centre.

The sailor was then transferred onto the AFM's SAR Launch and subsequently conveyed to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance, to receive medical care.

His condition is not yet known.
