The Nationalist Party raised €171,609 during Thursday night’s fundraising telethon.

The party framed the five-hour campaign as part of a fight against “the threat to democracy” posed by the governing Labour Party.

During the campaign, PN leader Simon Busuttil warned that the Prime Minister’s chief of staff Keith Schembri has threatened the PN with court action, unless the party pay up €120,000 for the party’s debt to his Kasco group of companies.

He also said that the Labour Party is purposely delaying the PN’s right to two additional seats in Parliament, after a court had ruled in the party’s favour.
