The public is being invited to share its views on the relocation of the Sette Giugno monument from Hastings Garden to a new location.

The public consultation is spread over six weeks and the general public is being urged to have its say on the relocation of the monument which commemorates the 1919 riots.

Addressing a press conference, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi and Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation chairman Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, said recommendations by the Planning Authority will also be considered.

“From the feedback received so far, it appears that more and more people are in favour of the monument being relocated to St George’s square or close to the market place,” Mizzi said.

Last year, Speaker Anglu Farrugia said that the monument should be relocated to the immediate vicinity of the Renzo Piano parliamentary building.
