Late yesterday afternoon, a foreign registered fishing vessel 50nm off the Maltese coast sent a distress call to the Armed Forces of Malta. A Tunisian national reportedly suffering from severe chest pain was evacuated by helicopter and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

In a separate case, early this morning the AFM dispatched a helicopter to evacuate a Libyan sailor off a fishing vessel. He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from general exhaustion and bleeding.
