Customs officials seized 14 tonnes of cigarettes and 24 tonnes of washing powder from the Malta Freeport last May.
The Customs Department in a statement said that the contraband items were found to be in breach of Intellectual Property Rights regulations.
“The Maltese Customs Department has been a key player in clamping down on the illegal trade breaching Intellectual Property Rights on an international level, which has been hampering the international economy,” it said.
